Guidelines, Procedures, and Contact Information for the Lintilhac
Foundation
The flagship projects of the Lintilhac Foundation have been the
support of the midwifery program at Fletcher Allen Health Care
and support for student scholarships and scientific research at
the University of Vermont and Middlebury College. The Foundation
has also moved aggressively to address consumer and environmental
advocacy issues and believes it is important to make polluters
— not taxpayers — pay to clean up toxic wastes and pollution in
Vermont streams and ground water. The Foundation also works to
foster a new generation of clean, renewable energy and energy-efficient
technologies.
Grant application guidelines
• The Foundation does not use a formal application
form. Proposals should set forth specific objectives, detailed
estimate budgets, qualifications of the organization and individuals
who will be responsible for the project, and the documents substantiating
the tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code. Two copies
of the application are required.
• In general, the Foundation’s grant program emphasizes institutions
and organizations serving the people of north central Vermont,
including Chittenden, Lamoille, and Washington counties.
• In general, funds are distributed to those projects that are
self-generated and endeavor to identify needs within the community.
These projects generally require seed funding with associated matching
grants and have prospects of becoming self-supporting.
• Applications from individuals or for emergency funds will not
be considered.
• Directors will generally consider one application from an organization
in any given year.
Review procedures
• The Directors meet quarterly to consider grant requests. The
Directors’ review of applications frequently requires more than
one meeting and it may therefore take several months before a final
decision is rendered.
• Requests for appointments will be considered after an application
has been received for initial review.
• The director of an organization whose proposal meets the eligibility
requirements and is complete may be asked to meet with the Directors.
